Just an average day in Paris...

No pictures today. I apologize in advance.

Today was the first day of our intensive French classes. I somehow landed in the highest level of French (the girl next to me is a Tunisian native French speaker. Awesome) and so the grammar is flying in like a whirlwind. Apparently our class will morph into a translation class, which is super sweet because I wanted to learn translation!

I went to a bookstore and bought a small French grammar book for about $5 US. I'm waiting to buy all of my other books-- to see if I can avoid buying them! There are a bunch of huge bookstores just over the Seine, and I was excited to go in one. Sadly, we didn't stay long enough for me to impulse buy. After that we bought sandwiches and walked over to a park to eat them. In that park was, oh, Notre Dame. I just casually had lunch in front of one of the most famous cathedrals in the world. It's kind of intensely massive and beautiful. Today I didn't get to be a tourist, but I was assured that I could come back and take pictures to my heart's content. So that was pretty sweet. I then had some gelato that cost more than my lunch. I wish I'd taken a picture of that because she managed to squeeze four flavors onto one cone in a lovely flower petal design. Yum!

After that, I learned about how internships work with this program, and it's not pretty. 12 hours/week (and it only counts for one class), and they want me to do 8 of them on the travel day that is Friday. I'm currently evaluating whether or not it's worth it. Advice is appreciated.

We got home around 6 (early for us) and then I went for a run along the canal in the park by our apartment. The weather was absolutely perfect for a run and I probably did 3 miles without a problem because I was too busy appreciating how perfect it was :-).

I'm now procrastinating on my homework for tomorrow. I have to write an essay! C'est dommage.

So yeah, running by the canal, lunch at Notre Dame-- just a typical day at the office when you live in Paris...

  1. Glad you're having so much fun! It's nice when you can actually speak French that other people understand :P

I wish I could visit you! Too bad our trips didn't overlap.
