Well, we didn't. Not too late either. After all of our lengthy orientation fun, a group of us went back to La Place de la Concorde (and today, it was less rainy so a lot easier to see La Tour Eiffel).
Next stop: Le Jardin des Tuileries, which takes you down to the Louvre from La Place de la Concorde. There's a beautiful little pool right at the entrance, and on nice days like today, French people bring out their chairs and relax around it.
Katherine and Katherine!
I don't know those people, but the garden behind them is pretty. It was impossible to get a clear shot because there were so many people around!
Lots of pictures of the Louvre!! I took the last picture because it shows how open-minded they say Paris is in action-- the guy in the middle has a guy on each leg and the girl is sitting a little distance off from them reading a map. Hehe.
Famous art #1-- check out Nike!
Ok, I have to ask. When you have a painting taking up an entire wall (I couldn't even really fit in the frame, and am just now realizing I completely failed to take a straight shot), why do you look at some woman smiling mysteriously?
Oh yeah, that's why. She's guarded by a big glass case and has an entire wall to herself, but this is from like 20 feet away with a decent zoom. It's a small picture.
Typical crowd for 7:30 on a Friday night... it's free for young people (under 26), and everyone else goes anyways.
One more shot! This time from inside the pyramid out at one of the wings.
Sunset on the Seine :-)
Sneak peek of Notre Dame! And a tourist double decker bus. My shots are so... artsy.
My seafood paella at a restaurant in Place de Saint-Michel. The waiter was a jerk, but the food and wine were good! I thought Dad would appreciate the mussels. I ate every one.
Way to MUSSEL up for dinner!
