So Friday began with class, as per usual. Afterwards we went to a Chinese place where we could get more than we could eat for the price of a sandwich elsewhere. Yum! Then those of us who are quickly become caffeine addicts went to get coffee. It came with an interesting sugar label...
After coffee, three of us decided to go to the catacombs. They are not at all for the faint of heart, but were really old and really cool!
It's hard to read! The iniscription says "Arretez. Ici l'empire de la morte" which translates to "Stop. Here is the kingdom of the dead." Straight out of a horror film. Except this was written a solid 200 years before films were around.
They took all of the skulls, tibias, and femurs from an old cemetery and brought them down here. And stacked them like this. So creepy!!
As a final note on the catacombs, they were really far down. So far that for the stairs up, they have a defibrillator waiting for you at the top.
Our next stop was Pompidou (and for us, the National Museum of Modern Art). Below I have a Dali, a Pollack, two Picassos, and a Matisse. Extra souvenir for anyone who gets it right without help from the internets :-)
If you guessed this was any of those, wrong! It's the front of the Pompidou, silly.
(sorry, bad picture haha)
P.S. There's a decoy to make it just that much harder. Good luck!!
So, that evening we went a fondue place where they served wine in baby bottles, which was kind of funny. The fondue was great and decently priced. It was a great Friday night.
More about Saturday and Sunday tomorrow! I need to go to bed!
Thank you for taking the pix of the best they had to offer. (Was this the best they had to offer?)
