Let Paris be Paris

I shall now try to get caught up, as weekdays are generally less action-packed due to courses and such.

Monday: Class 9-11. Then a group of four of us tried to go to see the Opera House, but it was five euro to get in. We decided to go see an opera in the opera house instead, as that would "save money".

After our failed journey to the opera, we made a successful journey to the Eiffel Tower, where we ate lunch staring at it. And in my case, took a lot of pictures of the same thing. I really don't get tired of photographing La Tour Eiffel.

Hehe I'm headless :-)

After that, Emily and I decided to go visit Les Invalides. After wandering through the free parts, we realized we could get into the rest of it with a free student ticket! The EU under-25 student rule is AMAZING.

The cannons have faces!!

Napoleon's tomb! Apparently he has 9 coffins within each other.

World War I Memorial in the same building.

Masonic symbol on the tomb!! It must be part of the Da Vinci Code!

Since Tuesday was the end-of-orientation test, we then decided to lay out on the lawn by Les Invalides and study (or in my case, half-nap, half-study). It was beautiful.

That's the view from my nap/study spot!

Monday night was quiet. I had a nice dinner with the family and went to bed at a reasonable hour.

Tuesday, after the straightforward but sadly grammatical test, I went to the Marais. I went shopping there before, but this time I got to learn about all the monuments and historically significant things I was walking by in my search for deals.

I forgot why this church is significant :-(. Sorry. But it was pretty!

Place des Vauges. The area around this was built by Louis XIII and Louis XIV

Pretty sweet interior to a hotel. We're just talking about some history in the building, when all of a sudden I say "WHOA! Is that real?"

It was.

For my Cru friends :-). It's a restaurant.

That was all for Tuesday-- we shopped after the tour, and I bought a bag and a sweater dress from H&M. Next time, I'll strive for something more Parisian, but it was nice to buy myself something.

Wednesday: I have zero pictures!! It was the first day of classes so I just went to a class and had a meeting about choosing an internship. I also went running along the canal again, which was stunning. I think the classes here are going to be exhausting-- because it's hard to maintain another language for that length of time-- but not too terribly difficult. They want us to travel and have fun, so I don't think they're working us too hard.
Good night!
